Yes. A Non-Immigrant O-A visa (Retirement Visa) is available for those over 50. Requirements include proof of funds and health insurance. Eldwi's Retirement Plan covers visa options, city selection, and realistic cost estimates tailored to your nationality. For pension and tax questions, we refer you to a Steuerberater experienced with Thai-German expat law.
Eldwi uses an anonymised brief model. You share only a general situation overview, no passport, no medical records, no financial details. No personal data is ever passed to providers without your explicit action. You contact and pay providers directly. GDPR standards apply throughout.
A comfortable lifestyle in Chiang Mai typically ranges from €1,200 to €2,500 per month, depending on accommodation standard, healthcare needs, and lifestyle. Bangkok and Phuket tend to run 20–40% higher. Eldwi's Retirement Plan includes a realistic cost range built around your specific profile, not a promotional estimate.
Eldwi operates on two transparent revenue streams. For your Personal Plan, you pay Eldwi a single flat fee. This covers our research and advisory work, and only this. Some organizations in our network, including language schools, annual directory listings, and select affiliates, contribute a listing or referral fee to Eldwi. Where this applies, it is disclosed clearly in your Plan.
Other contacts mentioned in your Plan, including hospitals and independent specialists, have no commercial relationship with Eldwi. We include them because they meet our quality standards, not because of any payment or agreement. Our selection is based on quality standards, not on who pays us most. You are always free to contact any provider independently.German state pension (Deutsche Rentenversicherung) can generally be received abroad including Thailand. Swiss AHV and Pensionskasse transfers have different rules. In both cases, tax implications under the Germany-Thailand or Switzerland-Thailand Double Taxation Agreement apply. Eldwi refers clients to a Steuerberater with expat experience for these specific questions.
Several major Thai hospitals hold JCI (Joint Commission International) accreditation, the same international standard used to evaluate hospitals in Europe and the US, or HA (Hospital Accreditation), Thailand's national hospital quality standard, certified by the International Society for Quality in Health Care. Many have dedicated International Patient Departments with German and English-speaking coordinators. Eldwi's Medical Information Plan covers only JCI or HA-verified institutions and includes the questions you should ask before making any decision.
This is one of the most common concerns and a legitimate one. Every Retirement Plan includes a list of German and English-speaking healthcare contacts, international patient coordinators at JCI (Joint Commission International) or HA (Hospital Accreditation) hospitals, and established expat communities in Chiang Mai and Bangkok. The Eldwi network exists precisely because you should not have to navigate an emergency without a known contact.
